空氣品質糟糕，中北部幾乎紅通通，桃園的平鎮、龍潭空氣品質指標(AQI)更達到紫色的程度，AQI超過200，達到非常不健康的程度，環保署指出，未來3日台灣受太平洋高壓影響，各地以多雲到晴的天氣為主，環境風場多為微弱東至東北風，西半部因高溫日照強，且大氣擴散條件不佳，空氣中臭氧濃度達對敏感族群不健康等級，局部地區達對所有族群不健康等級，環保署提醒敏感族群注意防範，避免午後在戶外長時間劇烈活動。臭氧濃度偏高達不良時。
根據現行AQI指標，臭氧8小時平均值達71ppb就屬敏感族群不健康，如達86ppb就屬所有族群不健康，環保署指出，最近因時序進入夏秋季風交替時期，特別這幾天台灣上空沒有明顯天氣系統，因天氣穩定，白天風速偏弱，氣溫高陽光強，光化學反應較強，易生成累積二次汙染物臭氧，全台午後許多下風處測站臭氧小時濃度值都破百達高點，而8小時平均值會在下午3、4點後才達高點，入夜後才會慢慢降下來，這是入秋時序的空氣品質特性。
環保署指出，臭氧主要是氮氧化物與揮發性有機物經陽光紫外線照射生成，已推動14+N空氣汙染防制策略，以加強電力設施管制、6,000座鍋爐改用較乾淨燃料、汰換8萬輛一、二期柴油車、汰除二行程機車等，作為NOx、VOCs主要減量重點，預計整體可減少9萬1千噸NOx、1萬5千噸之VOCs，降低臭氧污染問題。
